- Heat olive oil and butter over medium heat in a large skille
- Add mushrooms in a single layer. Cook for 3–4 minutes without stirring so they brown properly.
- Stir mushrooms, then add garlic cloves and fresh thyme.
- Cook for another 3–5 minutes until mushrooms are tender and golden.
- Add salt and pepper, then serve immediately.
Notes
We tested this recipe multiple ways and found that cooking mushrooms undisturbed at first over medium heat gives the best texture and flavor. For best results, avoid overcrowding the pan and use fresh mushrooms instead of damp or wet mushrooms to prevent steaming.
